Bar Avignon

Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the food because it was so yummy that I remembered too late.  I did get a picture with Chris, so one can have an idea of the atmosphere.

Chris and me. Bar Avignon 2010

The atmosphere was very laid back and casual, and there was no wait for a table!  That's always a plus for me:)  They had an excellent wine list.  Each style glass pour that they offered was delicious and memorable.  Chris had a slice of the pecan pie that was the perfect consistency and hit the spot nicely.  William went with the french fries that were fried in duck fat!  OMG what a deal for $5! I had a hearty slice of goat cheese that resembled blue cheese .  It too only $5!  It was perfectly  rich and creamy, which paired nicely with the Cote de Rhone I was drinking.   We will definitely be going back!

Aquariva Italian Kitchen + Wine Bar

I had been to Aquariva in the past for dinner and found it to be very yummy, but very pricey, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that they now serve brunch on Sunday's.  They have a wonderful location on the SW waterfront with floor to ceiling windows looking out at the Willamette River.  Some other great perks of their brunch were: no line, great prices $10-$12 and every breakfast includes a complimentary mimosa or fruit juice.  Unfortunately all the free mimosa's could not make up for the fact there biscuits and gravy were "biscuits and lazy", scoring well below average(even after adding tabasco).  There frittata and omelettes weren't very exciting either:(  The dishes were very bland, and everyone  agreed that salt and pepper were lacking big time.  Below are pics of whet we ate, at least the food looked pretty!

I am going to give Aquariva another opportunity to win me over because it had a lot of extras most Portland breakfast places don't.  There pancakes and rum raisin french toast sound yummy, so I will keep you posted

Dessert instead of Dinner

Sundays are easy going late breakfasts and early dinner/dessert days. Today started at Besaws on 23rd. It was a first, and of course I got the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was average as far as gravy goes, but the biscuits were exceptional. Very light and easy to eat with such a heavy gravy (sorry no pics I forgot my camera in the car).

Enjoyed yummy mimosa and Chris got the farmer scramble which was really great and loaded with garlic potatoes, caramelized onions, leeks, and plenty of cheese! Their mimosa's hit the spot!

After a relaxing day at the art museum, sugar is needed to re-pep! Tried out the Papa Haydns in Sellwood. When you want a special dessert with that special someone this is a must!
